This icon depicts Christ standing in the Jordan River as He is baptised by Saint John the Forerunner. The heavens are opened, the Holy Spirit descends in the form of a dove, and the voice of the Father is revealed. It is a manifestation of the Holy Trinity and the beginning of Christ’s public ministry.
