Visitation of the Theotokos to Elizabeth – This icon depicts the meeting of the Theotokos and her cousin St. Elizabeth, both miraculously pregnant—Mary with Christ and Elizabeth with St. John the Forerunner. Upon hearing Mary’s greeting, the unborn John leapt in Elizabeth’s womb, and she proclaimed Mary as “the mother of my Lord.” This moment signifies the recognition of Christ’s divinity even before His birth and the joy of salvation.
