Protection of the Theotokos - White Marble

Protection of the Theotokos (Agia Skepi) – This feast commemorates the miraculous appearance of the Theotokos in the Church of Blachernae in Constantinople in the 10th century. She spread her veil (omophorion) over the faithful, signifying her divine protection. The icon expresses the Theotokos’ constant intercession and care for the world, reminding us that she is our protector in times of need.
